The clerk of council, or his deputies, shall attend every meeting of the council and
keep, in a book provided for that purpose, an accurate record of its proceedings.
The clerk of council shall file and preserve all written opinions furnished by the
city attorney to the council; also a copy of every contract entered into by the city,
and such other papers and books as may come into the hands of the clerk. The clerk
of council shall also arrange for and supervise the printing of all official reports
and ordinances requiring publication, serve all notices required to be served and
generally perform all such duties as properly appertain to the office, or may hereafter
be assigned.
